Bettina from Copenhagen in Denmark hiked part of the El Camino – from Burgos to Léon (picture from Hontanas)
She tells us enthusiastically:
”A few years ago, I had an operation for a prolapsus discus intervertebralis lumbalis (slipped disk)… suffered from a peroneus paralysis of my right foot etc etc – but training and training (on stairs …. and daily cycling etc) resulted in the fact that on May 25 this year, I “dared” sign up for a hike from Burgos to Léon together with a team of 12 people.
Just returned:
Never did I dare hope that my feet: delicate and sensitive and with a sunken forefoot etc etc ….. could do it … but I wanted to try … I’ll soon be 100 years’ old… (almost, that is) ….. of a team of 12 … from 40 to 100 years old…. we were only two persons, who didn’t have blisters … !! And I was one of the two ….
No back pain …. neither soreness in my feet .. !! Totally smashed because of lack of fluid, however … did not know that I evaporated / dehydrated so much … therefore, lots of water had to be carried in the backpack … I did not hike as many miles as the trained pilgrims do though … it was the first time ever for me!!
Relived and without pain every morning. I am absolutely convinced that the insoles from Align Footwear made it possible for me to complete this project… in short: THEY ARE BRILLIANT …. THANKS SO MUCH, ALIGN FOOTWEAR INSOLES!”
